Here's How To 'Guarantee' Your Pokémon Evolve To More Than 1000 CP

We're now a number of weeks into Pokémon Go and we're learning more and more about the game with every passing day.
When I started out I was extremely keen to become the very best. But after about a week of not understanding how to evolve Pokémon and then another week spunking my Poké balls all over Manchester, I've slowed my Pokémon training down to when I walk to work or the gym - like, an actual gym, not a Pokémon Gym.
And so while my Pokémon adventure is still alive, it's hardly moving at a rate of knots. And I'm certainly no Ash Ketchum despite owning his hat and having a real life friend called Brock.
For some, however, they're completely obsessed. It's taken over their lives and they're looking for any and every way to improve their own fortunes by increasing their knowledge of the game.
Take, for example, Reddit user Kyurun, who decided to use a website called Pokémon Go Toolkit so he could calculate exactly what CP every Pokémon needs to be before evolving into something with more than 1000 CP.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, it's probably easier to just show you what CP each Pokémon needs in order to evolve into something more than 1000 CP, so here's that chart...

The folks over at Mashable then tested it on a Drowzee to assess the accuracy. And it was pretty close. They evolved a 630 CP Drowzee into a 1306 CP Hypno, which is just four CP off what was predicted on Pokémon Go Toolkit.
However, the website itself admits that it's only a guide and cannot be 100% accurate and that's because of something called 'individual values', or IVs. Each individual Pokémon will have IVs that are different even if they're the same Pokémon. So every Drowzee will have the same 'base values' in Attack, Defence and Stamina, but they'll have different IVs.
You can't actually see IVs in the game but there are websites around that can help you find out what IVs your Pokémon have.
Redditor Conan-the-Librarian can explain in much more detail than I could ever possibly hope to, to be honest, although I have done my best.
Anyway, this shit is for you serious Pokémon trainers out there who really are trying to be the very best. For people like me this is just useful additional information to use some day when I can be arsed to go to the gym - a Pokémon Gym, not an actual gym.
